Daniel C Meyer 1/22/1937 - 12/31/2021 Daniel was born in Kansas City, Missouri to George and Kathryn Meyer. He grew up in Kansas City and St. Louis. He graduated from Lindberg High School in 1955. He attended Oklahoma Baptist University on a baseball scholarship and majored in Physical Education and Spanish. Early in his senior year he met the love of his life, a freshman named Patricia, on a blind date set up by their Spanish professor. Dan taught Spanish at Guthrie High School for 3 years while Pat finished her degree at UCO. The couple joined the Peace Corps and served 2 years in Buenaventura, Colombia. They then moved to Azusa, California where Dan taught Spanish and coached the baseball team for 10 years. Through those years, they spent summers volunteering with Wycliff Bible Translators in Mexico. In 1974 they moved to a small farm south of Paden, Oklahoma and lived there for 20 years before moving north of Prague. Dan taught Spanish for a total of 48 years including at Paden, Okemah, and Butner until 2011. Over their years together Dan and Pat fostered many children and were happily able to adopt some into their family. Dan was an avid storyteller and loved making others smile. One of Dan's greatest joys was sharing the love of God with everyone, especially on mission trips to Spain, Ecuador, Colombia, Panama, Honduras, Guatemala, and Mexico. He spent many years as a part of a prison ministry. He translated for UN personnel and other agencies following natural disasters. He was a founder of Just For You Ministries and served on the board until his death. Dan is preceded in death by his parents George and Kathryn and his long-time foster daughter BeaKay Bates. Dan is survived by his wife of 62 years, Patricia, and his children Steven Meyer and wife Meleia, Cynthia Meyer Lowe, Paula Meyer Brown, Teresa Meyer Peace and husband Henry, Brenda Meyer Williams and husband Mark, Tracy Metz and husband Batiste, his 11 grandchildren, and his 8 great grandchildren.
