Daniel Boone Nifong, age 87, of Harrah, OK, was born on October 30, 1924, in Ozark, AR. He was the son of Roy B. & Anna Mae (Fisher) Nifong. He left this life on Friday, December 16, 2011, in Midwest City, OK. Daniel retired from the U.S. Army with the rank of Command Sgt. Major, serving during WW II, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. Daniel was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Shriners, DAV, American Legion, Jones IOOF, Eastern Star and the VFW. After his retirement from the army, he worked for the Veterans Administration as a claims judicator. Daniel was selfless in his desire to serve his country and to help veterans with their claims even after he left the Veterans Administration. Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Lillian VanVeghel and one grandson. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn G. Nifong, Harrah, OK; 3 sons & daughters-in-law, Loval & Hoa Nifong, Weaver, AL, Daniel & Denise Nifong, Harrah, OK, Richard & Cheryl Nifong, Dallas, TX; 2 daughters & sons-in-law, Linda & Bob Smith, Fayetteville, NC, Hannah & Joe Blasak, Archer, FL; 1 sister, Jean Reed, Harrah, OK; 9 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren and many other relative and friends. Services will be 2:00 PM, Wednesday, December 21, 2011, at the Asa Smith Memorial Chapel, Harrah, OK. Interment will follow at Memory Lane Cemetery, Harrah, OK. Services are under the direction of Smith~Parks Funeral Service in Harrah, OK.
