Dan Eugene Mayfield

Dan Eugene 'Gene' Mayfield was born on December 24, 1928, in Paden, OK, and departed this life on Friday, January 28, 2005, in Paden, OK, at the age of 76. Gene, the son of Frank and Margaret Matilda Maynard Mayfield, was a lifelong resident of Paden. He married Jessie Sue Smith Mayfield on May 1, 1954, in Okemah, OK. Gene served with the United States Army during the Korean conflict, retired from Tinker Air Force Base where he was a school bus driver. His parents and two brothers, Fred and Harmon, preceded Gene in death. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Sue of the home; sons and daughters-in-law, Dan Eugene, Jr., and Sara of Paden and Dale Eugene and Sheri Friend of Okemah; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Neil Prosser of Alabama; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ray and Vernita Mayfield, Harvey and Dorothy Mayfield, Vester and Opal Mayfield; sisters and brothers-in-law, Alice and G.W. Coward of Sallisaw and Dorothy and Paul Heard of Paden, Katie and Morris Brown of Paden; sisters-in-law, Hazel Mayfield and Thelma Mayfield; 6 grandchildren; and 4 Great-grandchildren.
