Dale Fredrick Snyder

Dale Fredrick Snyder of Modesto, CA passed away peacefully at the age of 85 Monday, October 22, 2007, at the Alexander Cohen Hospice House in Hughson, CA. He was born on June 9, 1922 in Prague, OK to parents Fredrick Absolem Snyder and Bertha Elzada Snyder. He is survived by his college sweetheart and wife of 65 years, Nora Lewise Snyder; daughters, Rebecca Sue Smith and her husband, Jack, of Cloudcroft, NM, Brenda Jan Stiles and her husband, David, of Modesto, CA; 7 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. A carpenter and master craftsman by trade, Dale served our country in WWII in the South Pacific as a Navy Seabee with the 2nd Marine Battalion, landing on the beach in Guam where he spent most of his tour of duty. He resided in Mesa, AZ for 40 years, and also spent years in Dewey, AZ, Albuquerque, NM, and most recently in Modesto, CA. Dale graduated from Centerview High School in Prague, OK and attended Connors State Agriculture College with basketball and track scholarships. After the war, he continued his education, enrolling at the college of agriculture at the Okmulgee, OK campus where he studied cabinetry. An avid sportsman, Dale loved golfing, hunting, fishing and rock hunting. He was a member of Hoffmantown Baptist Church of Albuquerque, NM. Dale was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend to all who knew him. He will be greatly missed. Memorials may be made to Community Hospice, c/o Alexander Cohen Hospice House, 2001 Euclid, Hughson, CA 95356. The family will receive friends at Parks Brothers Funeral Home on Friday, October 26, 2007, from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 27, 2007 at 10:00 AM, at Pleasant Home Baptist Church in Prague with Bro. Dennis Traxler officiating. Interment will follow at Garden Grove Cemetery in Prague, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.
