Curtis D. Phipps

Curtis D. Phipps, long-time Davenport, OK, resident was born on February 24, 1919, in Osage County, OK, and departed this life on November 16, 2012, in Oklahoma City, OK, at the age of 93 years. Curtis was the son of Samuel and Elizabeth (Bailey) Phipps. He served in the United States Army during WWII. Curtis married Jeannine Thary on March 20, 1946, in Gray, France. He worked for the City of Davenport for many years and was of the Baptist Faith. His parents, one daughter, four brothers and one granddaughter preceded Curtis in death. Survivors include, his wife of 66 years, Jeannine of the home, two sons and daughters-in-law, Tom and Beulah Phipps of Chandler, OK , Curtis and Jonita Phipps of Chandler, four daughters and sons-in-law, Elizabeth Childress, of Shawnee, OK, Rita and Jim Wade of Chandler, Sonja and David Ward of Okemah, Judy and Ron Brown of Houston, TX, 17 grandchildren, numerous great, and great-great grandchildren, other relatives and many friends. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, November 20, 2012, at davenport First Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Mitchell and Rev. Johnny Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Davenport Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Chandler.
