Coy Jenkins was born on March 2, 1927, in Fayette, Alabama, and departed this life on Tuesday, September 2, 2014, in Shawnee, Oklahoma, at the age of 87. Coy, the son of E.C. and Vida (Terry) Jenkins, was born and raised in Fayette, Alabama. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was married to Betty Joyce Bircheat until her death in 1997. Coy and Betty moved to Midwest City, Oklahoma, where he worked as a systems analyst for Tinker Airforce Base. He was a 32nd Degree Mason of the Scottish Rite of Guthrie and a member of the Midwest City Masonic Lodge. After retirement from Tinker, he moved his family back to Fayette, AL. He was a member of the Fayette Southside Baptist Church. Most recently, Coy moved back to Oklahoma to be near his son, David. He and David enjoyed fishing and hunting together. His parents, wife, Betty, daughter, Tracey, granddaughter, Jamie, and two brothers, Alan and Wayne Jenkins preceded Coy in death. Survivors include: son and daughter-in-law, David and Carol Jenkins of Shawnee, OK; sisters and brother-in-law, Shirley and Willie Kidd of Fayette, AL and Ruth Sprinkle of Mobile, AL; two grandchildren; five great grandchildren; other family and friends. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2014, at 2:00 PM at Nelson Funeral Home in Fayette, Alabama with Bro. Robert Parrish officiating. The Jenkins family will receive friends prior to the funeral service on Saturday, September 6 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Wesley Chapel Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.
