Cleo Davis was born on December 24, 1919, in Paden, Oklahoma, and departed this life on Friday, April 7, 2006, in Prague, OK, at the age of 85. Cleo, the son of Charlie George Davis and Julie E. Osborn Davis, had been a resident of Prague since 1947 and had lived in the Paden and Prague area all of his life. He married Jane Shero on October 12, 1946 in Wilburton, Oklahoma. Jane and Cleo then purchased the Jake Mitchell farm east of Prague and made their home there until moving into Prague in 1994. Cleo graduated from Paden High School in 1938 and later received his Bachelor?s of Science degree in agricultural economics from Oklahoma State University in 1942. He then entered the United States Army and served overseas with the 25th infantry division during World War II. He received the Purple Heart Citation for injuries sustained in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. Cleo and Jane purchased Home Oil Company in Prague in 1957 and owned and operated it until their retirement. Cleo was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Prague, served as president of the Prague Chamber of Commerce, served ten years on the Prague Public School Board and was a member of the Prague American Legion. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two sisters. Survivors include, wife, Jane Davis of the home in Prague; sons & daughters in law, Joe & Carol Davis, Chickasha, OK, Dr. Frank & Ann Davis, Edmond, OK, Earl Davis, Alta Loma, California; daughter and son in law, Sue & Buck Wright, Stillwater, OK; brother & sister in law, Cecil & Mary Davis, Paden; sisters, Sylvia Chambless, McLoud, OK, Marie Wilkins, Yukon, OK, Clarice Stone, Shawnee, OK; 10 grandchildren; and 1 great-grand daughter.
