Cledell Alexander Woody Sr, was born October 7, 1941 in Stroud, Oklahoma to Cleveland Woody and Artice Lyons Woody. He was the first born of 12 children.
At an early age he professed his faith in Jesus Christ and joined the Jesus First Baptist Church of Stroud, Oklahoma
He attended Stroud public schools from elementary to high school, graduating with the Class of 1960. He enjoyed sports and was a member of the Stroud basketball, football, track and field team.
Cledell met his soulmate, Gloria Patton and they were married in 1961. They lived in Oklahoma City and were married 31 years. To this union three children were born, Francheska Woody (preceded him in death), Felicia Woody and Cledell Woody II.
He worked 18 years at Suburban Newspaper as a Press Operator.
In 1992, Cledell moved back to his hometown of Stroud and reunited with old friends, and found companionship with longtime friend, Sheila Beaird.
Cledell’s favorite times were spent fishing and he will be remembered by his family and friends as the perfect fisherman.
Cledell is preceded in death by his parents Cleveland and Artice Woody; sisters Connie Woody, Cora Story, Carrie Tubbs and Clorett Youngblood, Clariece Woody and Cleolla Howard; brothers: Cleveland Jr., Curtis James, Calvin, Cecil and Column Woody.
He leave to cherish his memory daughter Felicia Woody; son Cledell Woody II both of Oklahoma City; sister Carolyn Washington of Wichita, Kansas; two brothers Pastor Claude T. Woody (Loretta) of Spencer, Oklahoma and Reverend Conway Woody (Nina) of Wichita, Kansas; grandchildren Marqucio (Artisha), Marquinez, Ollicia, Gloricia and Cledell Woody III and Brendon Galbert; great grandchildren Shandalyn Nash, Shyla and Maquico Woody Jr; great great grandchild Malachi Griffith; and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Jesus First Baptist Church in Stroud, OK with burial following at Stroud Cemetery. Condolences may be offered online at www.parksbrothers.net. Care Services are provided by Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Stroud, OK.
