Clarence J. McWhirt, a resident of Davenport, Oklahoma, was born on September 26, 1920, in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. Departed this life on March 1, 2005, at his home in Davenport, Oklahoma, at the age of 84 years. Clarence was the son of Clarence and Birdetta A. Conley McWhirt. He served in the United States Army during WWII, and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. Clarence retired from the Texaco Oil Company, where he worked many years as a pumper. He married Betty J. Smith on November 12, 1986, in Kansas. Clarence was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. His parents, first wife, Gladys McCullough, and four brothers preceded Clarence in death. Survivors include: Wife: Betty J. McWhirt of the home; Three step-sons: Bob McCullough of Phoenix, AZ; Tim McCullough of Davenport, OK; Bennie Keith of Tulsa, OK; Three step-daughters: Sue Jolley of Anchorage, Alaska; Dolores Long of Arkansas City, KS; Doris Watson of Glenpool, OK; 16 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren. Other relatives and many friends.
