Charley Edgar Molleur Jr was born in Boston Pool, an oilfield camp close to Cleveland, Oklahoma, in 1936 to Charley and Lola Faye Molleur. He grew up in a large family of nine in Shamrock, Oklahoma, where he also graduated high school. Charley met the love of life, Gaye Nelle Purdy, at age 13 in Milfay, Oklahoma where his dad was a pastor. Charley had his first kiss with Gaye at Falls Creek Baptist Camp (behind the girl’s shower!) at 14 years of age. Charley married Gaye in August of 1955. Their only child, Terry Michael Molleur was born in 1958. As a family they moved to New Mexico where Charley worked with his brother, Bob. They moved back to Oklahoma in 1962 to attend college. By 1965 both Charley and Gaye had graduated with bachelor’s degrees from Central State College in Edmond, Oklahoma. Charley began his career with Cities Service Oil Company in 1965 (later it was to become Occidental Petroleum) and stayed there until he retired in 1997. He worked in Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas, and Mississippi and eventually settled back in Oklahoma. Charley lost his wife, Gaye to Alzheimer’s in 2004. He met his second wife, Barbara Peterson, at church where they were counselors for Grief Share. They married in 2006. Charley loved to travel and work in his yard. Several times over the years, Charley was awarded Yard of the Month.He was able to grow beautiful flowers every year. Charley was also faithfully involved with each church that he attended. Charley’s last church was Fairview Baptist Church in Edmond, Oklahoma. Charley was a board member with Church Starts International and was a counselor at Crossroads Clinic in Guthrie, Oklahoma. Charley was preceded in death by his parents Charley Edgar Molleur Sr and Lola Faye Molleur, siblings Gene Molleur, Ethalee Ferren, Bob Molleur, Jane White, JoAnne Fox and first wife Gaye. Charley is survived by his second wife, Barbara Molleur, son Mike Molleur and his wife Alma, grandchildren Joshua Molleur, Tara Metteauer, Aryn Burke and Jonas Molleur, five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Charley is also survived by his sister Carol and her husband Freddy Walker, stepson and step- daughter David and Karen Peterson. For Charley’s Texas’ family a visitation will be held at Beck Funeral home on Monday October 19th from 2-4 pm. The address is: 1700 Whitestone Blvd Cedar Park, Tx 78613 Charley will be buried beside his first love, Gaye, at Stroud Cemetery in Stroud Oklahoma.
