THOMPSON Charles Wesley, 93, formerly of Oklahoma City, departed this life in Prague on Saturday, December 01, 2018 to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Charles was born May 29, 1925. He was married to Pricilla Dean Thompson, his wife of 62 wonderful years. Pricilla was the love of his life and she preceded him in death on Nov.13, 2005. They had two beautiful daughters, Sharon Lee Smith of Prague and Carolyn Sue Thompson who preceded him in death Mar. 2, 1950. His parents Charles and Emma Thompson and his older sister Marcella Kemp also preceded him in death. Charles attended Capitol Hill High School in Oklahoma City where he received his H.S. diploma and he married his H.S. sweetheart Pricilla on Dec. 5, 1942. Charles served in the US Navy and completed boot camp at the Great Lakes Naval Training where he was later assigned to a minesweeper in the Southwest Pacific and traveled to New Guinea, Australia and other islands in the area. He later returned back to the states and trained for destroyer service and was assigned to the USS Howorth during W.W.II. After his training, Charles was mobilized to the Philippines, Japan, and other islands in the Pacific where he served his country. After returning back to the states, he was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy on 7, Dec. 1945. Charles was later employed full time with the Oklahoma City Fire Department where he served for many years and retired in April of 1968. Not long after retirement, Charles worked in the insurance field, but then decided to obtain his realtor’s license. Charles worked for Floyd Welch and Sons Realtors where he successfully sold homes to many families in the OKC area. In his later years, Charles kindly drove an Oklahoma City School bus for 9 years where he lovingly transported special needs children to and from school. Early on, Charles’ faith in the Lord led him to become a member of Southminster Presbyterian Church where he and his family attended. He was also an Elder in the church and served for many years working with the youth and serving the family of God. Charles had a very loving, peaceful personality that influenced many people throughout his lifetime. His genuine love for people spanned a lifetime of influence on family and friends. His kind, gentle, sweet spirit was instantaneously felt and easily reciprocated even by those who did not know him. Charles was not a man of many words, but his character exemplified the fruits of the spirit, (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control). He enjoyed his time on earth, praying for and loving his family, being a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather. He leaves behind many loved ones who will miss him dearly. Charles is survived by his daughter and son-in-law; Sharon L. and Jerry W. Smith of Prague Grandchildren survived are: Misty and Louis Novotny of Meeker; Wendell Smith of Prague, Great-Grandchildren; Michael and Jennifer Novotny of Birmingham, Al, Stephanie Novotny of Edmond, Dillon Smith of Edmond and Jaxon Smith of Prague, Great-Great-Grandchildren; Levi, Priscilla, and Ruth Novotny of Birmingham, AL. Charles is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and sister-in-law Dee Meador of Oklahoma City, and brother-in-law Ronald Rainbow of Midwest City. The Funeral Service will be held at the United Methodist Church in Prague, OK at 10:00am. Fr. Michael J. Novotny grandson of Charles Thompson will be presiding. Graveside Service will be held at Sunny Lane Cemetery in Del City at 2:30pm where Charles Wesley Thompson will be laid to rest with his beloved wife Pricilla Dean Thompson and his youngest daughter Carolyn Sue Thompson. Charles will be deeply missed by his family and those who were impacted by his life. Our “Papa” was a precious husband, father and grandfather who lived his life with a gentle, kind spirit. He always showed the love of Christ to all he met and Praise God we will join him one day to sing praises to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
