Charles M. Dean

June 23, 1930 — March 15, 2017

Charles 'Chuck' Dean, long-time Edmond, Oklahoma, resident was born June 23, 1930, in Kansas City, Missouri, and departed this life March 15, 2017, at his home in Edmond, at the age of 86 years. He was the son of Walter and Noline (McGrew) Dean. Chuck proudly served in the United States Navy aboard a radar picket ship as an electrician. He worked for the FAA as a systems engineer for many years, and upon retirement he moved to Oklahoma. There with Doris, the love of his life whom he had met and married in 1972, he settled into the home he had built for them in Edmond lovingly referred to as 'the farm.” One of his life-long passions was for the game of golf. At the Kickingbird Golf Course in Edmond, he helped establish the men's club along with his good friend Gene Emery. Chuck later helped establish the seniors men's club as he reached that age group. He was lovingly known as their 'BMW' because they said, 'He was the ultimate driving machine!' The entire family would like to thank Brian Sorenson and the other members of the Kickingbird Golf Course that meant so much to Chuck. To his family he was known as Daddy, Grandfather, Paw-Paw and sometimes Chucky. We were blessed to have him as the head of our family, and we look forward to seeing him again. His parents, two brothers, Walter and Jerry; and one son-in-law, Steven Callies preceded Chuck in death. Survivors include his great love, Doris of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Glenn and Tammy Dean of Edmond, Oklahoma; four daughters and sons-in-law, Beverly and Doyle Valentine of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Karla and JC Mahan of Arcadia, Oklahoma, Debra Callies of Oklahoma City, Tambra and Pat Gray of Guthrie, Oklahoma; seventeen grandchildren, twenty four great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, March 17, 2017, at the Oak Park Cemetery in Chandler, Oklahoma. Arrangements are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Chandler.
