On May 5, 2016, our loving husband, daddy, and grandpa passed on to be with Jesus. He was born February 18, 1926, to Herbert and Zetta Listen in Jones, OK. He attended Jones schools through 11th grade, graduating from Boise City HS. Charles served his country during WW II on the USS Windham Bay and the Admiralty Islands campaign. Upon his return home, he married Vivian Wolfe and began his lifetime career of farming with his mentor, Ernest and Vera Wolfe, and his son, Herb. Out of the marriage of 67 years, three children were born, Cathy (Listen) Thrift and Mike, of Jones; Herb Listen and Angie, of Jones; and Sherrie (Listen) Loewen and David, of OKC. Charles loved and was loved by 14 grandkids and 23 great-grandkids. His kindhearted nature made him a friend to all and a loving mentor to his family. Charles loved farming, gardening, visiting with friends, and singing hymns. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Wilfred; and two granddaughters, Sheli (Tate) Sapp and Steffani Tate. His survivors include Vivian; his children; grandchildren; his brother, Bob; sisters, Marilyn Lassiter and Margie Millican; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank his many caregivers, Ashley, Charla, Ben, Cynthia, and Roe. We also thank Susan and Chaplain Harry from Life Springs Hospice. Your kind, skillful, comforting care for our dad meant much to him. Viewing is from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Smith-Parks Funeral Service in Harrah. Memorial Service will be at Jones Assembly of God Monday at 2 p.m.
