Cecil Don Chrastek

August 19, 1925 — April 3, 2010

Cecil Don Chrastek was born on August 19, 1925, in Prague, and departed this life on Saturday, April 3, 2010, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the age of 84. Cecil, the son of Cyril and Lillie Frances (Rubac) Chrastek, was a lifelong resident of Lincoln County. He married Emily Carmen Ondrasek on February 4, 1950 in Prague. Cecil was a 1943 graduate of Prague High School. In September of that same year, he entered the Merchant Marines. During World War II, Cecil served aboard the SS Sidney Sherman. He received many medals including Atlantic Ocean, Mediterranean Sea, Pacific Ocean, Combat Bar and a 50th anniversary commemorative medal and certificate from the Russian government. Cecil owned and operated the Sooner Caf for 15 years. He was head of maintenance at Gordon Cooper Technology Center until 1987. In 2008, Cecil attended his 65th Prague class reunion. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 11 and a 50 year member of ZCDJ Lodge. Cecil was also a big fan of Oklahoma Sooner football. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Oscar Chrastek; niece and nephew, Sharon Corbitt and James Lang. Survivors include wife of 60 years, Emily Chrastek of the home; sister, Mary Ann Pata of OKC; nephews, R.J. Pata and wife Debbie of Wimberley, TX, Kevin Pata and his wife Rhonda of Redondo, CA, Don Pata and his wife Becky of Edmond; eight great nephews and nieces; special family by marriage, Bill and Arlene Pryor and son, Andy of Orange, TX Edward Terry of Shawnee and daughters, Shannon Remerowski and husband Steve, Lindsay Candy and husband Jonathan and their children Dylan and Evan, John Terry of Norman and son, Chris Terry of Del City, Charles Terry, Chad and Beth Corbitt and their children Caleb and Chase of Tulsa, Blake and Amy Corbitt and daughter Callie of Maui, HI. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at 10:00 AM, at Parks Brothers Chapel in Prague with Freeman Whitlock officiating. Interment will follow at Czech National Cemetery in Prague. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.
