Carolyn Sue Annis, 72, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2025, surrounded by her family. Carolyn was born in San Pedro, California on June 8, 1952 to Lee and Mary (Messer) Vickers. In 1962, Carolyn moved to Cushing, Oklahoma with her parents and little brother, Boyd Lee. Carolyn attended Cushing schools, graduating with the class of 1970.
On January 14, 1972, Carolyn married Ron Moon, and to that union, they were blessed with their daughter, Kristin. On September 6, 1988, Carolyn married Robert “Bob” Annis, and her family grew with the addition of his adult children, Kent and Kemberlee.
Carolyn was well known for her perfect penmanship and organizational skills. She was also phenomenal at seeing someone that might be going through a hard time and meeting a need or trying to lighten their load. Her love was shown in many forms; it could have been a lunch date, delivering meals during an illness or death, or simply donating pet food.
Carolyn took pride in completing any task she was assigned with efficiency and perfection! She was blessed with many jobs throughout her life that she absolutely loved. She began her career path at Gibson’s department store in Cushing, then moving on to Southwestern Bell, to be followed by several years at the City of Cushing. After she and Bob relocated to Sallisaw in 1988, she enjoyed substitute teaching at Kristin’s elementary school for a couple of years, before she and Bob opened up a Radio Shack franchise store. Upon moving to Blackwell in 1993, she began one of her favorite positions as Secretary/Bailiff to the Kay County District Judge. In 1998, Bob and Carolyn moved to Purcell, where she initially took a part time position at McClain Bank as an administrative assistant and where she finally retired in 2017 as a Senior Vice President. The staff at McClain bank were family to her.
Carolyn's life was filled with joy and love, especially with the addition of her grandsons, Hayden and Holden. Bob and Carolyn moved to Choctaw in 2013 to be closer to her grandsons and to be able to attend all their school activities. She also deeply cherished her time over the years with her beloved dogs, Annie, Ford, Annabelle, Lizzie and Zoe. Carolyn had a passion for organizing family events, making sure everyone felt welcomed and loved.
