Carl V Chenoweth

May 20, 1920 — October 7, 2004

Carl Vincent Chenoweth was born May 20, 1920, on the farm of his parents, Ruth Brooks and Jess Chenoweth, near Lexington, OK. He died October 7, 2004, at Mercy Hospital, Oklahoma City. He attended Spring Hill, a one-room school, and graduated from Lexington High School. While working for North American in Dallas, he met Marie Wells on a blind date. They were married January 30, 1943. Carl joined the Air Force in the late ?40s. After discharge, they moved to Norman where Carl attended OU, graduating with a BS in Mechanical Engineering. Carl began working for OG&E on November 13, 1950 and had various jobs during his 37 years with the company. He retired June 1, 1985, as Plant Superintendent, Horseshoe Lake Station, Harrah. After retirement, he enjoyed having more time with his family, his friends, his cattle, his tractors and his farm operation. He was predeceased by his parents, two brothers, J.B. and Earnest, and one sister, Nellie Peters. He is survived by his wife, Marie of the home, two daughters, Carla Splaingard of Oklahoma City, Linda and Jim Hankinson of Bakersfield, CA, and three grandchildren, Andrew Splaingard, Stephanie Hankinson and Taylor Hankinson. Services will be Monday, October 11, 2004, at 2:00 p.m. at the Harrah United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Memory Lane Cemetery, Harrah. Donations may be made to the Harrah United Methodist Church building fund. Services are under the direction of Smith~Parks Funeral Service in Harrah, OK.
