Carl Palmer Upton

Carl Palmer Upton was born on December 27, 1921, in Gainesville, Missouri, and departed this life on Monday, November 7, 2011, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the age of 89. Carl, the son of Carthal and Roxie Upton, was a resident of Paden. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II. Carl worked as a cement finisher until he was 75 years old. At that time, he became a minister and pastored several churches the last of which was Miracle Church at Whitefield. He married the former Linda Cole on December 9, 1989 in Shawnee. Carl was preceded in death by his parents, one son, 3 brothers, and two sisters. Survivors include his wife, Linda Upton of the home; brothers and sisters-in-law, Wes and Mildred Upton of Garden Grove, CA, Harold and Marie Upton of Florence, OR; grandchildren:Michael Baker of the home, Sherri Meng of Centerville, IA, Cheryle Karzlarck of Mystic, IA, Kevin Upton of Des Moines, IA; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Meng of Centerville, IA, Blake Upton of Mystic, IA; several nephews, nieces, and a host of friends. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 10, 2011 at 10:00, at the Freewill Baptist Church in Paden with Rev. H. O. Robertson and Rev. Jim Eastep officiating. Interment will follow at the Paden Cemetery.
