Bulin 'Shorty' Burnett was born on April 25, 1913, in Excelsior, Oklahoma, and departed this life on Tuesday, November 11, 2003, in Shawnee, Oklahoma, at the age of 90.Shorty was the son of Grover Cleveland and Anna Liza Starr Burnett, He graduated from Excelsior High School and served as the state vice president of the FFA for the 1931-32 term. He married Lena ?Louise' Drake on May 14, 1932, in Seminole, OK. Shorty, a former resident of Prague, worked in the shipyards in California during World War II, was the production superintendent for Sterling Oil Company of Oklahoma for over 32 years, and pumped many wells in the Sac & Fox and Payson area. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of the IOOF Lodge. His parents; wife; 1 son, Grover E. ?Smokey? Burnett; 3 sisters; 1 brother; and 1 grandchild preceded Shorty in death.Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law,Mattie Morgan Sauter and her husband Frank of Shawnee, OK; brothers and sisters-in-law,L. T. & Barbara Burnett of Haskell, OK, Thurman and Irene Burnett of Okemah, OK, C.J. ?June? and Maida Burnett of Cheyenne, Wyoming; 6 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren.Funeral Services will be held on Friday, November 14, 2003, at 1:00 P.M., at the Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Prague, Oklahoma, with Rev. Starland Davis officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Eufaula, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.
