Bonita Fay Nelson

Bonita Bonnie Faye Schaffer Nelson, age 70, passed away on December 5, 2006 in Harrah, OK after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born May 13, 1936 in Concordia, Kansas to Charles & Pauline Schaffer. Bonnie and her family moved to Oklahoma in 1942. On May 12, 1955 she married Thurman Nelson. They moved to Harrah, OK in 1970. She retired from civil service after 25 years. During those years she worked for FAA and Tinker AFB. Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents; brothers-in-law, Walt Danyeur & Howard Nelson and sister-in-law, Arletta Abbott. Survivors include her husband of 51 years; daughters, Marcy Ruff and husband Tom of Harrah, Rhonda Tate and husband, Bob of Charlotte, North Carolina; grandchildren, Mark Ruff and wife, Brandy, and Tracy Ruff all of Harrah, Seth and Rachel Tate of Charlotte; sister, Barbara and Chet of Harrah; brother, Don and Inez of MWC; sister-in-law, Jackie Danyeur of OKC and brother-in-law, Leroy Abbott of Grove, OK. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Good Shepard Hospice, 4411 Highline Blvd, OKC, OK 73108-1865. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, December 9, 2006 at the Asa Smith Memorial Chapel, Harrah, OK. Services are under the direction of Smith-Parks Funeral Service, Harrah, OK.
