Bobby Gene Sweaney

Bobby Gene Sweaney, of Agra, Oklahoma, passed away on July 8, 2024 in Agra, at the age of 88. Bobby was born on December 13, 1935 in Buffalo, Missouri. He was the son of Virgil Levi and Genevive Victoria (Stanton) Sweaney. He grew up in Buffalo and was a graduate of Buffalo High School. Bobby married Donna Lorene on April 20, 1978 and in 1986, they moved their family from Buffalo, to Oklahoma. Bobby worked for many years at Vassar Company in Perkins, where he supervised farm equipment manufacturing, starting in 1987 and retiring in 2018.


Bobby was known for his ability to fix about anything and his hard-working blue collar mentality. He was very mechanically inclined. He was an avid fisherman, card player, especially solitaire and enjoyed cracking jokes. You would often find him enjoying his favorite western movies, especially the John Wayne films.


Bobby was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Lorene Sweaney; two sons, Donald Levi Sweaney and Ray Edward Stafford II; four brothers, Donald Lee, Carol Ray, Harold Leslie and Deryl Wayne Sweaney and one sister, Diane Scrivener.


Those left to cherish his memory are two daughters, Victoria Jane Hills of Agra and Kristie Sain of Cushing, Oklahoma; two sons, Melvin Routt and his wife, Kim, of Buffalo, Missouri and Ron Sweaney of Tryon, Oklahoma; two granddaughters, Latisha Norris and her husband, Matt of Agra, Oklahoma and Cora Sain of Yale, Oklahoma; four grandsons, BJ Routt and his wife, Sharon of Missouri, Ben and Miranda, of Buffalo, Missouri, David and Robert Hills of Stillwater, Oklahoma and Timmy Sain of Yale, Oklahoma; three great-granddaughters, Allysa and Donna Norris and Bristol Routt; one great-grandson, Shawn Norris; three brothers, Freddie Sweaney and his wife, Karen, of Elkland, Missouri, Ralph Sweaney and his wife, Martha, of Buffalo, Missouri and Floyd Sweaney of Buffalo, Missouri and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
