Bobby Carter was born on June 22, 1922, to Rev. Claude and Emma ?Mabrey? Carter, in Milfay, Oklahoma, the eighth of nine children. He departed this life on November 22, 2006, at the Meeker Nursing Center. Bobby accepted Christ at an early age, under the tutorage of his father. Bobby grew up and received his education in the Chandler area. He joined the United States Army in 1941, and served as a Sergeant in World War II, and later in the Korean Conflict. After being discharged, he met and married Ruth Parker on June 6, 1948. To this union three children were born, Sharon Steele, Bobbie White and Lena Lewis. Bobby was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Chandler. He was employed by the Ford Motor Company for 50 years before retiring. Bobby was preceded in death by one daughter, Lena ?Pinky? Lewis; one step daughter, Edith Lee; his parents, three brothers and five sisters. He leaves to cherish his memory his Wife, Ruth Carter of the home, two daughters and son-in-law, Sharon Steele and Bobbie & Burton White of Chandler, eight grandchildren, three step- grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, four step-great-grandchildren, two great-great grandsons, along with a host of nieces and nephews, and dear friends.
