Bobbie Denise Day

October 25, 1958 — July 22, 2023

Bobbie Denise Day was born in Ardmore, Oklahoma on October 25, 1958. Bobbie was raised by her parents, Robert E. Cook and Sharon A. (Royer) Cook. Bobbie attended elementary and middle school in Davenport, Oklahoma before transferring to Prague for her high school years. While in high school, Bobbie ran track, played basketball, and was crowned football homecoming queen her junior year. Upon graduation, Bobbie attended Oklahoma State University majoring in Home Economics Education. She spent the early years of her career teaching in Davenport and Waynoka, Oklahoma, but Bobbie spent the majority of her career teaching Family and Consumer Sciences in Prague, Oklahoma while simultaneously teaching night classes at Gordon Cooper VoTech in Shawnee. During her career in Oklahoma, she worked towards additional degrees and certifications to further her education including a Masters degree from the University of Central Oklahoma (UCO) in Home Economics Professional Services - Living Space and Interior Design, a second Bachelor’s degree from UCO in Early Childhood Education, and National Board Career Tech Certification. Bobbie retired from teaching in Oklahoma after 28 years before moving to Kansas to continue her career. It was during her time working in Kansas that she earned some of her proudest accolades including Kansas Family and Consumer Science Teacher of the Year, Kansas Career Tech Teacher of the Year, and Top 3 Career Tech Teacher from Region V in the entire United States. Bobbie was also chosen from a national pool to speak in Washington, D.C. on behalf of the Dibble Institute. She taught in Kansas for ten years before retiring again. Not only did the move to Kansas bring her great accomplishments in her career, it also allowed her to meet her husband, Jimmy Day. Bobbie and Jimmy were married March 31, 2018, and during their time together enjoyed doing many things together. They traveled to places like the Outer Banks, Mount Rushmore, Galveston, and Eureka Springs where they rode motorcycles and camped. Bobbie’s dogs, Killer and Mavis, were never far away during these trips. Mavis especially loved to ride with her doggles and visit nearby campsites. Bobbie also enjoyed spending time watching crime shows, creating projects on her Cricut, learning to crochet, and spending time with her only daughter, Courtney. Bobbie is survived by her husband, Jimmy Day, daughter, Courtney Smith, step-son and his wife, Stormy and Parker Day, and her mother, Sharon Cook. Bobbie was preceded in death by her father, Robert E. Cook, her grandparents, Marcelious and Vesta Royer, and her precious Maltese, Libby.

No services will be held as Bobbie wished her ashes to be spread among the places she loved to travel most. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Humane Society in honor of her love for animals or plant yourself a yellow rose bush to honor her memory.
