Binkley “Bink” Edward Clarkson was born on October 22, 1957 in Edmond, Oklahoma and departed this life on Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at the age of 62 years. Bink was an only child born to Carroll and Paulene Clarkson. He grew up in The Village of Oklahoma City. He graduated from John Marshall High School, then earned a bachelor’s degree in engineering from Oklahoma State University. He met Gail Mueller in 1988, they were married and had two children Lacey and Tyler. He worked for AJAX before joining Cooper Energy as an engineer designing air compressors until his retirement in 2002. He moved with his two children from Oklahoma City to Chandler in 1999 and raised them in the house right next to his parents. Bink was a loving father, who was very active in his children’s lives. He was the ‘Class Dad”. He enjoyed attending every single Chandler Lions football game to watch his daughter Lacey cheer and his son Tyler play in the marching band. As a child Bink played baseball and was coached by his father. He liked taking the kids to watch baseball games at the old OKC 89er’s field. He was an Eagle Scout, and was later active in his own son, Tyler’s Boy Scout packs. Pine Wood Derby’s were his favorite. He enjoyed golfing and introduced that to his son as well as working on cars and they rebuilt a 1988 Z-28 Camaro together. A fond memory the children recall is him taking them to watch dirt bike races. Then later learning that he was a semi-professional dirt bike racer in the late 80’s. His parents found out about it was when wiped out in a race on national television. He was a big OSU Cowboys fan and his favorite color was orange. It was guaranteed that you would be gifted something OSU for Christmas every year. He loved dogs and after sending his kids off to college, he spoiled several dogs. He became a grandpa to Piper in late 2019 and loved to spoil her too. He was enjoying being a new grandfather when he passed away. Bink is preceded in death by his father, Carroll Eddie Clarkson. Survivors include his mother, Paulene Clarkson of Chandler, former wife Gail Cain of Oklahoma City, daughter Lacey Johnson and husband Jimmy of Oklahoma City, son Tyler Clarkson of Oklahoma City, stepdaughter Aimee DiMaria of Oklahoma City and granddaughter Piper Johnson. He will be greatly missed. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, January 24, 2020 at the Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Chandler, Oklahoma officiated by Pastor Jordan Serracino.
