Billie Jean Black departed this Earth to her Heavenly home on May 1, 2023. She was born December 16, 1934, to parents Alice (Brittain) Miller and Gene Scaggs, in Stroud, Oklahoma.
Billie was born and raised in Stroud and graduated from Stroud High School in 1952. After high school, when Raymond Black returned to Stroud from the war, the high school sweethearts married, in a double wedding with Raymond’s older brother Bob, and his wife Joanne, in Arizona, in 1953.
Billie opened her dress shop, Billie’s Fashion, and ran it for over 30 years on Main Street in Stroud. Billie was definitely a very well put together woman.
Billie is survived by her daughter-in-law, Terry Black; 2 grandchildren Luke Black and wife Hollie, Whitney Gwartney and husband Darin; 4 great grandchildren Maxwell and Violet Black, Levi and Ezra Gwartney; sister Karen Dorsey; as well as extended family and friends.
Billie is preceded in death by her parents; husband Raymond Black; and son Kevin Black.
Funeral service will be held Friday, May 5, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Stroud First Assembly of God with burial to follow at Stroud Cemetery officiated by Pastor Jeromye Jackson. Condolences may be offered online at www.parksbrothers.net. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Stroud, OK.
