Bettye Ann Grissom, 86, passed away Sunday, January 23, 2022, at her home in Prague, Oklahoma. Bettye was born December 26, 1935, in Shawnee, Oklahoma, to W.L. and Eunice Jarrard. Bettye attended and graduated Earlsboro Schools. She married Roy Grissom on August 14, 1954, at First Baptist Church, Earlsboro, Oklahoma, and they were married 67 years. Bettye and Roy then moved to Mounds, Oklahoma, where Roy began his education career. In 1959, Bettye and Roy moved to Stroud, Oklahoma, where they enjoyed their time before moving in 1970 to Glencoe, Oklahoma where Roy became superintendent of schools and Bettye became his secretary. They later moved to Prague, Oklahoma, where Roy was superintendent of schools and Bettye was director of Child Nutrition. Bettye later retired from Prague Schools. Bettye and Roy loved camping, fishing, traveling with friends, and attending grandkids’ activities. She was an active member of Prague First Baptist Church. She was an inspirational wife, mother, and grandmother. Her love was one of a kind, and you could always bet she was praying love and peace over you. One of her strongest desires in life was that others would have a relationship with the Lord like she did. She was a wonderful Christian role model. She was preceded in death by her parents, W.L and Eunice Jarrad and her brother, Ronnie Jarrad. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter and son-in-law, Sheri and Robert Ripley, her son, Terry Grissom; seven grandchildren; Dustin Ripley and wife Maggie, Dillon Ripley and wife Allison, Micah Thorpe and husband Tanner, Ashley Parks and husband Steven, Christian Grissom and wife Kayla, Cayle Grissom, and Kirby Grissom; eight great-grandchildren; Case Parks, Linkin Parks, Kennedy Coker, Lex Ripley, Brooke Ripley, Harley Ripley, Cable Ripley, and Cash Ripley; sister and brother-in-law, Bill and Linda Carpenter, sister-in-law, Barbara Jarrard; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
