Betty Lou Gibson Wooden Nannie, 79, of Edmond, OK, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 8, 2007, in Enid, OK, after a short illness. Betty was born on May 6, 1928, in Davenport, OK. She was the daughter of Shirley Barksdale Gibson and B. Edward Gibson. She grew up in Lincoln County, graduated from Davenport High School and attended OSU for one year before marrying Charles J. Wooden on May 1, 1948. Betty was a homemaker and worked side by side with Charles in his trucking businesses. The couple again worked together at the Oklahoma Horsemen''s Association where she was the office manager. She took great pride in her work with the Oklahoma horse racing industry. Betty''s greatest pride was in her family, especially her grandchildren. Everything she did centered around what was best for her family and friends. Her sweet and caring soul will be missed. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, and one sister Wilma James. She is survived by her husband of 59 years Charles J.'Wooden of the home; three daughters, Barbara Howry, Edmond, Marsha Wooden, OKC, Lou Ann Jones and her husband Jim, Enid; one son, Bill Sissons and his wife Shelba of Fort Worth; five grandchildren Ande Howry, OKC, Chris Jones and his wife Emily, Perry, Laurie Fanning and her husband Russell, Weatherfor.cJ, Tyler Jones, Enid, Shawn Sissons, his wife Nicole and their daughter Alyssa, Choctaw; two sisters, Jo Ann Gaps, Des Moines, Iowa, Edna Cross and her husband Bob, Davenport; and many sisters- and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Enid''s S1. Mary''s hospital for all their loving care. Services will be Tuesday, September 11, 2007. A burial service will be at 10 a.m. at New Zion Cemetery, Davenport, OK, and a Celebration of Life Memorial Service will follow at 11 a.m: at Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Chandler, OK. Visitation with the family will be from 5:30 - 6:30 pm on Monday. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Betty''s name to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation in Oklahoma City.
