Betty Jean Smith, age 72, of Harrah, OK, was born December 10, 1941, in Holdenville, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Harry & Lois Velma (Brantley) Martin. She left this life on Tuesday, November 18, 2014, in Harrah, OK. Betty graduated from Holdenville High School in 1959 where she was a varsity cheerleader and active in the vocal music department. She married Asa Smith on July 4, 1959, in Holdenville and they moved to Dallas, TX where Asa attended mortuary school. Betty worked as a secretary while there and after they moved to Okemah, OK where they joined Parks Brothers Funeral Service. They moved to Midwest City in 1972 and Betty worked as a secretary for Precision Rubber and Plastics. They moved to Harrah in 1972 and Asa became part-owner of Wilson Funeral Home. He later bought the funeral home and he and Betty served Harrah and surrounding areas until his death in 2000. She was also preceded in death by her parents and sister, Nancy Denney. Betty was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church, Harrah and enjoyed many activities there. She also enjoyed working with pottery and doing things with her grandchildren. Survivors include 2 sons & daughters-in-law, Cass & Elizabeth Smith, Harrah, OK, Dr. John Robert & Ivonne Smith, Harrah, OK; 2 brothers & sister-in-law, John Bill Martin, Harrah, OK, Wayne & Jean Martin, Harrah, OK; 2 sisters & brothers-in-law, Carolyn & Mike Agan, Harrah, OK, Paula & John Dunlap, Harrah, OK; 5 grandchildren, Juan Carlos Smith, Britta Smith, Gabriela Smith, Isabela Smith, Bridger Smith and many other relatives and friends. Services will be 2:00 PM, Friday, November 21, 2014, at the Asa Smith Memorial Chapel, Harrah, OK, with Rev. Dan Campbell officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Lane Cemetery, Harrah, OK. Services are under the direction of Smith~Parks Funeral Service in Harrah, OK.
