Betty Jean Hamilton, Stroud resident, was born in Shawnee, Oklahoma on February 26, 1935 and departed this life on Wednesday, April 4, 2007, at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 72 years. Betty was the daughter of William Henry and Minnie Gokey Abney. Betty was a resident of Stroud area all of her life, Betty married Elton Hamilton on February 11, 1952 in Cushing, Oklahoma. They owned and operated the Hamilton Speedaway Convenience Store in Stroud for many years. She was a loving mother, housewife, and Nanny and was a member of the Only Way Baptist Church in North of Stroud. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and two sisters.
