Betty Jean Brauer

January 4, 1935 — December 12, 2023

Betty Jean (Pierson) Brauer was born in Asher, Oklahoma on January 4, 1935 to Raymond Mayo Pierson and Elisia Abigail (Mahoney) Pierson. She departed this life on December 12th, 2023, in Tulsa, at the age of 88 years old. She moved to Stroud, when she was three years old, where she attended a community school named "Golden Valley" through the fifth grade. The school transferred to Stroud, where she graduated from Stroud High School in 1952.

Betty married William Brauer on January 30, 1953. During their marriage, she lived in Stroud, Wewoka, Cushing, Barnstall, Perry and Prague.

She was a housewife, and she was able to stay home and raise her family. After all of her children were grown, William had a heart attach and could no longer work. She had to go outside the home and work. She worked for two years at Benson Hardware. She then went to work for the U.S. Corp of Engineers for four years as a gate attendant at Keystone Lake. After her husband passed away, she went back to work as a volunteer in the Corp of Engineers office at Keystone Lake as a receptionist for one summer.

Betty's hobbies included reading the Bible, collecting elephants and ram figurines, reading, doing crossword and number puzzles, camping, drawing patterns for William's wood crafts that he made.

Preceding Betty in death were her husband of 53 years, William Brauer; her parents, three sisters and three brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law.

Surviving Betty are Glen and Paula Brauer of Prague, Roger and Dorothy Brauer of Stroud, Robert and Sherry Brauer of Weleetka and Ladonna and Rob Landrum of Claremore.
