Berton Z. 'Lee Lee' Lewis, long-time Chandler, Oklahoma, resident was born on September 19, 1923, in Luther, Oklahoma, and departed this life on May 19, 2015, in Chandler, at the age of 91 years. Lee Lee was the son of Arcadia and Vilonia (Greenhoward) Lewis. He married Inetta Lewis on January 22, 1946, in Chandler. Lee Lee was a member of the United States Army, 92nd Infantry Division during WWII. He served in Africa, Sicily, and Italy with the 416th Trucking Company, hauling supplies to Gen. Patton's troops on the front lines. In 1955, Lee Lee was the first black man to enlist in the Oklahoma National Guard, after his retirement he worked at the Federal Reserve Bank for many years, after that retirement he then worked at Chandler Wal-Mart as the door greeter. His parents, one sister and two brothers, preceded Lee Lee in death. Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Inetta, four daughters, Judith Young of Perkins, Oklahoma, Nettie Franklin of Chandler, Norma Johnson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Lettie Green of Chandler, and one son, Tony Lewis of Ohio twelve grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, May 30, 2015, at the First Baptist Church in Chandler with Rev. Linda Adams of Bethel AME Church in Chandler officiating. Burial will follow at Clearview Cemetery in Chandler. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Chandler.
