Bernice Cutsinger

Bernice Cutsinger was born on January 14, 1923, in Prague, Oklahoma, and departed this life on Wednesday, January 4, 2012, at her home in Shawnee, Oklahoma, Oklahoma, at the age of 88. Bernice, the daughter of Chester Orville and Ethel Mae (Bryant) Fairbanks, was a resident of Shawnee. She attended Prague High School and married Roy Cutsinger on May 18, 1941 in Prague. He preceded her in death on February 3, 1980. During her husband's two tours of military duty in Japan following World War II, Bernice was very involved in missionary work in Japan. She participated in building churches and teaching in both churches and schools. Bernice was an active participant in many organizations while her children were growing up, especially Girl Scouts and teaching Sunday School. She was a long-time member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church. Bernice loved to sew and later in life enjoyed reading. She loved her family and being involved in their activities and she loved her dogs. Her parents, and one brother, Clyde Fairbanks also preceded Bernice in death. Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley Walker and Mike of Oklahoma City and Nancy Hyams and David of Newalla; sister, Louise Herold of CA; six grandchildren, Jerry Dale Bowden Jr. and wife Cheryl, David Ray and wife Becky, Cindy Cheatwood and husband Mark, Teddy Ray, Todd Bowden, and Shannon Buchannon and wife Debbie; 11 great grandchildren; special friends, Wayne Owens, Tracy South, and Beth Thompson; and her beloved Snowball. The family would like to thank Heartland Hospice of Shawnee for their love and support. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 9, 2012 at 2:00, at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Prague with Pastor Donnie Knight officiating. Interment will follow at the Prague Cemetery.
