Barbara Alice Gouker

Barbara Alice Gouker was born on February 17, 1918, in Meeker, Oklahoma, and departed this life on Monday, January 21, 2008, in Checotah, Oklahoma, at the age of 89. Barbara, the daughter of Avery Elbert and Louna Mae Crownover Gilpin, was a life-long resident of Meeker until she moved to Checotah three years ago. Barbara married Milburn E. 'Mib' Gouker on June 9, 1940. He preceded her in death on March 20, 1991. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church in Meeker where she served as church pianist for several decades. Her parents and one sister, Lita Marie Kenyon, also preceded her in death. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Dan Kinnett of Porum; grandchildren, Shelly Durham and her husband George of Houston, TX, Danny Kinnett of Mesquite, TX, Michael Kinnett and his wife Angela of Edgewood, TX; and 7 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 24, 2008, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Meeker.
