Avis Melson

Avis Melson, Chandler, Oklahoma, resident, was born on June 15, 1912, in Prague, Oklahoma, and departed this life on September 2, 2005, in Chandler, at the age of 93 years. Avis was the daughter of William C. and Mary E. Cobey Holman. She married Homer Lee Taylor, on October 15, 1930, in Okemah, Oklahoma. He passed away in 1947, and Avis later married John Melson on March 8, 1952, in Stillwater, Oklahoma. She was a homemaker and a member of the Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Chandler. Her parents, husbands, six brothers and one grandson preceded Avis in death. Survivors include: Two daughters:Joann Shafer of Chandler, OK; Mary Sue Harris of Tulsa, OK; One sister: Mabel Ray of Paden, OK; One brother: Ray Holman of Okemah, OK; Four Grandchildren; Ten Great Grandchildren. Other relatives and many friends.
