Avis Lee Coleman of Paden, Oklahoma, passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2019, in Meeker, Oklahoma, at the age of 91 years. Avis Lee Coleman was born on August 29, 1927, in Paden, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Manson L. and Goldie Marie (Mitchell) Ellison. She grew up in Paden attending Paden Public Schools, graduating from Paden High School. As a young girl she would ride horseback and pickup ice from the ice plant and would pick cotton usually picking the most. Following her education, she married Alva Norman Coleman in 1955, in Winfield, Kansas, and they had two sons, Mark and Mike Coleman. She loved to hunt, especially squirrel hunting and hunting coyotes, fishing, gardening, she also loved to cook and spend time with her family. Avis worked for the sooner caf, sewing factories and later she worked as a purchasing agent for the Prague Hospital. She was a member of the Paden First Baptist Church. Avis never met a stranger and always had something to talk about. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Alva Norman Coleman; one brother, Glen Ellison; one sister, Georgie Blueford; and two grandchildren. She is survived by two sons, Mike Coleman and wife Doreen, and Mark Coleman and wife Judy; numerous grandchildren; many cousins, nieces and nephews.
