Avis C. Harder

Avis Coeta Harder, age 84, of Newalla, OK, was born January 31, 1933, in Laverne, OK. She was the daughter of Thomas & Jessie M. (Fuller) Roach. She left this life on Tuesday, July 11, 2017, in Edmond, OK. Avis graduated from McLoud High School, Draughon's Business School and lived in the Newalla area most of her life. She married Edward Lee Harder on February 16, 1952, in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. Avis was an accounting and finance clerk at Tinker AFB for many years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Newalla. Her hobbies included shopping for shoes, reading, playing bingo and she loved to travel. Avis especially enjoyed all of her trips to Colorado and going to the New England states, last October. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Ed. Survivors include her son & daughter-in-law, David & Marilyn Harder, Edmond, OK; 2 granddaughters & spouses, Michele & Mike Whitaker, Melissa & Rickey Avery; 4 great-grandchildren, Thomas Whitaker, David Whitaker, Brody Avery & Jillian Avery and many other relatives and friends. Services will be 10:00 AM, Friday, July 14, 2017, at the First Baptist Church of Newalla, Newalla, OK. Interment will follow at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery, Newalla, OK. Services are under the direction of Asa Smith Funeral Service in Harrah, OK.
