Ava Verna Jordan King was born on February 16, 1923 in Leadhill, AR to Albert and Mary Ellen Jordan. She was the 5th of 7 children. The family moved to the Prague, OK when she was a girl. She met her future husband Terrell King while he was visiting her brother. They were married on August 9, 1941 at the Riverside School in Seminole County OK while he was home on leave from Army Basic training. Their first child James was born in Oklahoma, 4 years later they had twin girls, Linda and Brinda, while in Arizona, on the way to California. After a brief stay in Arizona and California they returned to Oklahoma. They moved to Pueblo, Colorado in 1950 when Terrell took a job at the CF&I Steel Mill. They had another girl, Mary the following year. Ava spent her years working in the home first as a wife and mom and then as a grandma. After her husband of 40 years passed away she moved back to Oklahoma to be closer to her family here. She spent her final few years in Athens, TX where she passed on May 19. She was preceded in death by her husband Terrell King, parents Albert and Mary Ellen, brothers, Cecil, Bill, Olan, Bryant, Vernie, Valden, and sister Tressie. She is survived by her son James King and wife Nancy, daughters Linda Kifer and husband Dennis, Brinda Turner and husband Floyd, and Mary Baker and husband Danny. She was also a wonderful grandmother to 8 grandkids, 21 great grandkids, and 5 great great grandkids. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at 10:00 AM at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Prague with Travis Thomas and Jason McNair officiating. Interment will follow at Little Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.
