Audrey Arline Hansen

February 19, 1926 — August 22, 2017

With a clear mind, a full heart and a faith as deep as the ocean, Audrey “Arline” Hansen entered Heaven on August 22, 2017. We know she was met by her Savior Jesus Christ and her beloved Kenny along with a host of other family and friends! She had talked often and with great anticipation about this day. Arline was born on February 19, 1926, in Orange Grove, Texas. She grew up in Kenedy, Texas, surrounded by a loving extended family including her parents, Hugo and Elenora (Hinze) Oetken and siblings Melbourne (Sonny), Delores and LaFern. She was proud of her hard working farm life, especially the days spent picking cotton in the fields with her father. When she was just 17 years old and the girls in Kenedy were going to write letters to U.S. Navy sailors stationed nearby, she chose a letter from a young man because of his beautiful handwriting and that was how she met Kenneth Hansen. A few months later they were married on November 4, 1943, by the chaplain of the Chase Field Naval Air Station in Beeville, Texas. She was a blessing to Kenny for the rest of his life and their marriage continued until his death in 1998. A few months later when Kenny was being shipped out to the South Pacific and Arline was expecting a baby, she moved to Omaha, Nebraska, to live with his family. Donna was born in January, 1945, while Kenny was still overseas. He came home in October of 1945. Laura was born in February, 1947, Baby Lois in September, 1948, and Marty in November, 1951. Arline was the heart and soul of her family, never failing to show patience, faith, grace, humor and unending love to Kenny, her children and everyone she met. The family moved to the Oklahoma City area in 1956. As the years went by and her children grew and married, she enriched the lives of her sons-in-law and daughter-in-law, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Arline was truly an example of a Christian wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Everyone who knew her was blessed and uplifted. Preceding Arline in death were her parents Hugo and Elenora Oetken, her brother Melbourne Oetken; sisters Delores Lubker and LaFern Foltz; husband Kenneth Hansen, daughter Lois Hansen, son-in-law Philip Waller and granddaughter, Karen Tucker. She is survived by daughters Donna Russell (Bruce) and Laura Waller, son Marty Hansen (Patti), grandchildren Kristy Bradley (Doug), Kenny Russell (Colleen), grandson-in-law Scott Tucker, Chelsea Dunlap (John), Alex Hansen, and Patti Mitchell (Tom); great grandchildren Amanda Stake, Samantha Bradley, Megan and Julia Tucker, David, Tara, and Jacob Russell, Cole Dunlap, Trent Mitchell, Danny and Denton Dresser. The family would like to thank the staff of Wellington Parke Enriched Living Center for the excellent and loving care they provided Arline for the last few months of her life. We were all enriched by this wonderful facility. They were truly a gift from God for everyone. We also want to thank Good Shepherd Hospice for the care they provided in the last few weeks. A lifelong Lutheran, Arline's services will be Monday, August 28, 1:00 p.m., at First Lutheran Church, 1300 N. Robinson, Oklahoma City, conducted by Pastor Jerry Peterson. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Arline’s name to First Lutheran Church. Funeral services provided by Asa Smith Funeral Service, Harrah, OK. website at www.smithparks
