Lifelong Lincoln County resident, Arthur W. Kolar, passed away on Tuesday, September 11, 2007, in Shawnee, Oklahoma, at the age of 83. Mr. Kolar, the 6th child of Frank and Fannie Smika Kolar, was born January 13, 1924, on the family farm 5 miles north of Meeker. He graduated from Meeker High School in 1942 and then served his country in the United States Navy. During World War II, Arthur participated in the invasion of Okinawa. Following the war, he married Juanita Faye Chambers in Winfield Kansas, on March 29, 1947. She preceded him in death on December 21, 1990. Arthur retired in 1972 from Tinker Air Force Base and began devoting full time to his farming operation. Also preceding Mr. Kolar in death were his parents; three brothers, Frank, Jimmy, and Henry; and three sisters, Lillian Nance, Emma Mills and Hattie Fortune. Survivors include, brother and sister-in-law, Alfred and Ruby Kolar of Shawnee;sister-in-law, Betty Kolar of Oklahoma City;numerous nephews and nieces and other family and many friends. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 13, 2007 at 2:00 PM, at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Prague with Marty Kessler officiating. Interment will follow at the Czech National Cemetery in Prague, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.
