Archie Mlynek

December 21, 1926 — April 25, 2013

Archie Mlynek of Checotah, Oklahoma and Loveland, Colorado, passed away April 25, 2013 at OSU Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Archie was born in Prague, Oklahoma December 21, 1926 and moved to Loveland Colorado in 1972 where he retired from Hewlett Packard in 1990. He was a World War II veteran and worked in the oilfield industry before moving to Colorado. Archie was a talented and renowned fiddle player. He and his companion of 20 years, Jo Wright, traveled to many fiddle contests throughout the states. He won several contests including National Old Time Fiddler Senior-Senior Championship 2000 and 2001. He played with numerous bands both in Colorado and Oklahoma. Archie is survived by Jo Wright of Checotah, Oklahoma; his son and daughter-in-law, Don and Jody Mlynek and grandsons Conner and Logan all of Jackson Wyoming; sisters-in-law, Ruby Holik and Muriel Mlynek and several nieces and nephews all of Prague, Oklahoma. His extended family included Jeanne and Paul Landsittel of Bailey, Colorado, Paula and Don Ware of Wasilla, Alaska, and Jeff Wright of Fountain, Florida. Archie was deeply loved by all who knew him. He leaves behind many friends and fellow musicians who enjoyed playing with him and listening to him play. A viewing was held in Prague Oklahoma, Friday, April 26, at Parks Brothers Funeral Service. Services will be held on Friday, May 3, 2013 in Loveland Colorado.
