Antowine Narcissus Warrior

January 4, 1941 — September 21, 2019

Antowine Narcissus Warrior was born on January 4, 1941 in Stroud, OK and departed this life on September 21, 2019 in Sterling, MA at the age of 78. Antowine was born to Andrew and Mae (Morris) Warrior. He was raised in Stroud with traditional Sac and Fox tribal heritage by his maternal grandparents, Thomas and Bessie Morris. His Native American name was Ta-ko-to-ka-si meaning Roaring Thunder. Antowine became a Native American Artist at young age and had his first exhibition at the Philbrook Art Center in Tulsa at the age of 17. He attended several colleges including Bacone College, Muskogee, OK, Kansas City, MO and Tucson, AZ to continue his art education. Mr. Warrior has received multiple awards for his art Exhibitions and displays across the United States. His paintings are maintained by both private and public collectors. His public collections can be seen at: University of Arizona, Arizona State Museum, Bureau of Indian Affairs, US Dept. of Interior in Washington DC, Philbrook Art Center, Sac and Fox Trible Public Library and Stroud National Bank. Antowine also served in the United States Air Force during Vietnam. He was an Airman Second Class. He earned two Air Force Good Conduct Medals, a National Defense Service Medal, and an Air Force Longevity Service Medal. Antowine was preceded in death by his parents Andrew and Mae (Morris) Warrior, two sisters Barbara June Warrior and Chenenia LaDeaux, one brother Morris Warrior. Survivors include one brother Thomas and wife Barbara Warrior of Ft. Cobb, OK, one uncle Rev. Thomas Jr. and wife Beatrice Morris, of Stroud, OK one son Ty Barrett of Renton, WA granddaughter Nicole Barrett of Renton WA, caretakers Kathy Straitt and Paul Stevenson of MA, along with many nieces, nephews and other family members, friends, and fans. A wake will be held at 6:00 PM on Thursday, September 26, 2019 in the Sac and Fox Community Building. Burial will be at 9:00 AM on Friday, September 27, 2019 at the Sac and Fox Cemetery, Stroud, OK.
