Alvin Gene Thompson

Alvin Gene Thompson, age 81, of Harrah, OK was born on January 15, 1932, in McLoud, OK. He was the son of Gurnee Clinton & Gladys Merle (Collier) Thompson. He left this life on Wednesday, July 10, 2013, in Harrah, OK. Alvin graduated from Harrah High School, Class of 1949 and then attended Central State College for two years. He married Shirley Jo Gray on November 27, 1952, in Britton, OK. Alvin was in sales and later, vice president and operations manager for Mideke Supply Company for 39 years and operations manager with Hart Industrial for 7 years. He held many offices as a member of the Harrah United Methodist Church, Harrah Lions Club and the Harrah Historical Society. Alvin was on the Harrah School Board for 7 years, a director for the Harrah Senior Housing and a longtime director of the Harrah Senior Citizens Center. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and boating at Lake Tenkiller. Alvin was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Patti Lynn Thompson, and one sister, Lois Thompson Banker. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Thompson, Harrah, OK; 2 daughters & son-in-law, Nancy & David Kirk, Oklahoma City, OK, Connie Thompson, Oklahoma City, OK; brother, G. C. Thompson, Carlsbad, NM; sister,Deloris Thompson, Whitney, TX; 5 grandchildren, Ted Prince, Mark Prince, Ford Kirk, Anna Kirk, Callie Kirk and many other relatives and friends. Memorials may be made to the Harrah United Methodist Church. Services will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, July 13, 2013, at Harrah United Methodist Church, Harrah, OK, with Rev. Randy Little officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Lane Cemetery, Harrah, OK. Services are under the direction of Smith~Parks Funeral Service in Harrah, OK.
