Alta Eliza Skinner passed away on August 31, 2023.
Alta was born in Mena, AR on March 13, 1930 to Wesley and Minnie (White) Hemphill. After graduating from Acorn High School the family moved to Wichita Falls, TX. There she met and married the love of her life, John Edward Skinner in 1952. The family moved to Bartlesville and later moved to Corpus Christi. Alta was a stay at home mom and enjoyed crafting in her spare time. She was a loving wife, sweet mother, amazing grandmother, wonderful sister and awesome friend. Her positive spirit will be missed.
Alta was preceded in death by husband John Skinner; grandson Eddie Skinner; father Charles Wesley Hemphill and mother Minnie Ann White Hemphill; 2 brothers Arlie Ray Hemphill and Wesley Earl “Buddy” Hemphill and 1 sister Hazel Hatfield.
Survivors include daughter Brenda Jones; son Johnny Skinner and wife Brenda; daughter Kathy Cooper; sister Hellen Horton; sister Vivian Henshaw and husband Leon; 8 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; as well as extended family and many friends.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 30, 2023 at 11:00am at Stroud First Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, family asks that memorial donations be made to the Books for the Blind Program. Arrangements are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Stroud, OK.
