Albert Odell

Albert ?Andy? S. Odell, Raton, New Mexico, resident was born on November 17, 1931, in Brentwood, Arkansas, and departed this life on October 22, 2007, in Oklahoma City, at the age of 75 years. Andy was the son of Albert and Frances Anderson Odell. He served in the United States Army during the Korea War. Andy worked for the Daily Oklahoman as a Linotype Operator after returning from the Army. He married Doris Jean Lake in Wellston, Oklahoma, in 1956. He was a graduate of Central State University and the University of Oklahoma. Andy was a retired school teacher, having taught at Wann, Oklahoma, Jay, Oklahoma, Ganado, Arizona, Navajo Indian Reservation and Ardmore, Oklahoma. Andy was a member of the American Legion and the Raton Family Life Center Assembly of God Church in Raton, New Mexico. Throughout his life Andy served as a Sunday School Teacher, Youth Leader, Board of Deacons, Elder, and Youth for Christ Director and Gideon Member. Andy?s passions were God, Family and his work. He enjoyed traveling in his RV, bowling, camping, fishing, and watching wildlife. His parents, one brother, Lawrence, and one daughter, Andrea Jeanette Odell preceded Andy in death. Survivors include, Wife of 51 years, Doris Odell of the home, Two sons, Kenneth Odell of Raton, N.M., Douglas Odell of Ardmore, OK, One daughter, Cynthia Odell of Waikoloa, HI, Four grandchildren, Philip Staley, Ron Staley, Andrea Staley, Matthew Odell, Three brothers, Jim Odell of Norman, OK, Joe D. Odell of Kendrick, OK, Johnny Odell of Kendrick, OK, Three sisters, Jeanne Drake of Palmyra, NY, Ann Thorne of Payson, AZ, Lucy Faye Gifford of Stroud, OK, Other relatives and many friends. Flowers are welcome, as are memorials to, The Gideons organization and Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, on Thursday, October 25, 2007, at the Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Chandler, Oklahoma, with Rev. David McCarty officiating. Burial will follow at Davenport Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service, Chandler.
