Willie Lee Wiegert, age 89, of Harrah, OK, was born on August 8, 1920, in McLoud, OK. He was the son of Willie H. & Lola Ruth (Pickard) Wiegert. He departed this life on Tuesday, November 10, 2009, at the Veterans Center in Norman, OK. Willie married Ruby Roper on September 21, 1942. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He retired as a custodian from the Harrah Schools. Willie was a member of the Philadelphia Church of God, Edmond, OK, the DAV and the American Legion. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, raising chickens, tinkering and trying to figure new ways to do things. Willie was preceded in death by his father, Willie Wiegert, mother, Ruth McGlocklin, wife of 58 years, Ruby Wiegert, and 2 brothers, Ernie & Clifford Wiegert. Survivors include his son, Donnie Wiegert, Harrah, OK; daughter & son-in-law, Connie & Leroy Howland, Choctaw, OK; 4 grandchildren, Dale & Jana Wiegert, Weatherford, OK, Harley Wiegert, Cumming, GA, Michael & Felicia Strange, Henderson, NV, Mark & Tiffani Strange, Guthrie, OK; 3 step-grandchildren, Julia Vassar, Lexington, KY, Kim Berry, Norman, OK, Rick & Gwen Howland, Edmond, OK; 13 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law & sisters-in-law, Kenneth & Wanda Roper, Ada, OK, Mary Ruth Wiegert, Shawnee, OK, Arlene Roper, Newalla, OK, Bodil Roper, El Reno, OK, Emma Roper, San Diego, CA; devoted friend, Paula Powell, Noble, OK and many other relatives and friends. The family would especially like to thank the doctors, nurses and aids at the Norman Veterans Center and the nurses from Valir Hospice Care. Services will be held 2:00 P.M. Monday, November 16, 2009, at the Asa Smith Memorial Chapel, Harrah, OK. Interment will follow at Dale Cemetery, Dale, OK. Services are under the direction of Smith~Parks Funeral Service in Harrah, OK.
