Virgil Ray Ellis was born on November 3, 1952, in Altus, Oklahoma, and departed this life on Friday, October 15, 2010, in Shawnee, Oklahoma, at the age of 57. Virgil, the son of Edgar Conklin and Myrtle May (McKinney) Ellis, was a resident of Prague. He graduated from Meeker High School with the class of 1970. Virgil proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam conflict. His first wife, Gwendolyn Ellis and his second wife, Catherine Jean (Reynolds) Ellis, preceded Virgil in death. Survivors include sons, Virgil, Jr., Jonathan Edgar, William, and Justin Ellis of Shawnee; daughters, Marian Stewart of Tulsa, Ashley Ellis of Shawnee, Amy Ellis of Shawnee, Cheyenne Scovel of Tecumseh; brothers, Elvis Ellis of Midwest City, Jackson Ellis of Shawnee, Leroy Ellis of Norman; sisters, Peggy Ann Paulette Ellis of Shawnee, Gloria Jean Ellis of Shawnee, Lela Lopez of Altus, Gail Marez of Prague, Mildred Marcelno of Florida; 13 Grandchildren. Tribal services will be held on Sunday evening, October 17, 2010 at the Edgar Ellis Place in Prague. Tribal burial will be at 10:00 AM on Monday, October 18, 2010 at the Sac and Fox Cemetery in Stroud, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.
