Tony Jake "TJ" Simek, a life long resident of Prague, passed away on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at the age of 81. TJ was born on December 4, 1941 in Prague, Oklahoma. He was the son of Tony Fred and Lillian Rosetta (Turner) Simek. TJ grew up in Prague and attended Prague Schools. He was a 1959 graduate of Prague High School.
Following high school, TJ married Frances Cathern Smith on February 25, 1960. The couple made their home in Prague, where they raised their two children, Tony and Christy. Together they founded Simek Auto Supply in 1963 and TJ and his family have been serving the Prague Community ever since.
TJ was a jack of all trades. Everything he did, he did well. He was a hard worker and was dedicated. He enjoyed taking care of his cattle, telling stories, playing dominoes and making Klobase Sausage. He was an avid pheasant hunter and raised bird dogs. In his spare time, you would often find him enjoying his favorite westerns, especially Walker: Texas Ranger and enjoying a bowl of his favorite butter pecan ice cream.
TJ's greatest pride was his family. He was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather. He was always there to support his children and grandchildren in whatever they were active in. Whether it be cheering them on at sporting event or driving them across the country to participate in Czech Festivals, he was always there.
TJ's dedication to his work and to his family was second only to his dedication to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. TJ loved the Lord and his church and was always eager to share his Christ's love with anyone. He shared his own testimony and had true calling for bringing others closer to the Lord.
TJ was preceded in death by his parents, Tony and Lillian Simek and two sisters, Betty Webb and Geraldine McKay.
He is survived by his loving wife of more than 60 years, Frances Simek of the home; his son, Tony Simek and his wife, Sherrie, of Prague; his daughter, Christy Crowder and her husband, Boyd, of Stroud; five grandchildren, Cody Forehand and his wife, Teresa, Denton Simek and his wife, Shafer, Clint Simek and his wife, Ashlee, Kalli Ouderkirk and her husband, Tyler and Charlie Williams; six great-grandchildren, Warren Forehand, Julia Forehand, Conrad Forehand, Sutton Simek, Jake Simek and Jack Simek; one brother, Ron Simek and two sisters, Kathryn Coose and Klona Goodnight and host of nieces, nephews, famiy and friends.
