Steve Manek

Steve Manek, age 88, of Harrah, OK, was born on December 12, 1920 in Harrah, Oklahoma. He was the son of Pete & Pearl (Phillips) Manek. He left this life on Tuesday, September 15, 2009, in Harrah, OK. Steve proudly served in the U. S. Army's fighting 69th Infantry Division during WW II. He married Juna Var 'June' Weaver on November 23, 1946, in Oklahoma City. Steve worked as a machinist for Precision Machine Works for 30 years. He raised cattle and also had a machine shop at his home. He was a member of the Worldwide Church of God. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and loved playing the guitar and fiddle. Steve was preceded in death by his parents; son, Billy Manek, infant daughter, Myra Manek and 6 brothers. Survivors include his wife, June Manek of the home; 2 sons & daughters-in-law, Danny & Denise Manek, Harrah, OK, Sammy & Jerri Manek, Shawnee, OK; daughter & son-in-law, Majell & Larry Marshall, Harrah, OK; 4 sisters, Blanche Winters, Lexington, OK, Anna Smith, Oklahoma City, Mary Foster, Oklahoma City, Nellie Woloszyn, Oklahoma City, OK; 7 grandchildren, Kelley Black & husband, Carl, Cody Manek & wife, Brandy, Ben Manek & wife, Amy, Cindy Shelby & husband, Shawn, Cheryl Loesch & husband, Nathan, Phillip Cowley & wife, Amy, Jeremy Cowley & wife, Cortney; 10 great- grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Services will be held 10:00 A.M. Saturday, September 19, 2009, at the Asa Smith Memorial Chapel, Harrah, OK, with Rev. Mike Rasmussen officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Lane Cemetery, Harrah, OK. Services are under the direction of Smith~Parks Funeral Service in Harrah, OK.
