Ruth Laverne Chandler

Ruth Laverne Chandler, long-time Wellston, Oklahoma, resident was born on February 13, 1916, on a farm near Fallis, Oklahoma, and departed this life on June 17, 2008, in Chandler, Oklahoma, at the age of 92 years. Ruth was the daughter of Earl and Leta Harris Graham. She grew up and attended grade school in Fallis and later graduated from Wellston High School in 1934. Ruth married Leland Glynn Chandler in Stillwater, Oklahoma, on March 14, 1936. She was a homemaker and long-time member of Wellston Methodist Church. Ruth spent her entire adult life in Wellston until June of 2002 when, due to declining health, she moved from the family home to a nursing home in Chandler where she spent her remaining years. Her parents, husband of 63 years, brother, Raymond Graham; and two grandsons. Joe and Stoney Chandler; preceded Ruth in death. Survivors include, Daughter & son-in-law, Joy & Bill Robertson of Houston, TX, Son & daughter-in-law, Donald & Charlott Chandler of Newport, TN, Several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, June 20, 2008, at Wellston Cemetery, Wellston, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Wellston.
