Rayburn Lillard Barrett, resident of Stroud, Oklahoma, was born on March 7, 1912, in Big Springs, Texas, and departed this life on January 2, 2004, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 91. Rayburn was the son of Lillard and Ollie Bostick Barrett. He served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. He then became a minister in the Southern Baptist faith, was a member of the First Baptist Church in Stroud, and worked for the Bristow Public Schools for many years. He married Cora James in Panhandle, Texas, on December 17, 1948. She preceded him in death on March 31, 1996. He married Vera Pearman in Stroud in 2002. His parents, one son, four brothers, two sisters, and one great-granddaughter also preceded Rayburn in death. Survivors include his wife, Vera Pearman Barrett of the home; one son, Leonard Sjoberg of Cromwell, OK; one daughter and son-in-law, Ollie and Glenon Anderson of Stroud; three brothers, Eugene Barrett of Muskogee, OK, Clyde Barrett of Chandler, OK, and Clarence Barrett of Chandler, OK; 5 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and many other friends and relatives. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 6, 2004, at 10:00 AM, at the First Baptist Church in Stroud with Rev. Burl Mackey officiating. Burial will follow at the Magnolia Memorial Gardens in Bristow, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Stroud.
