Mildred May Van Brunt

Mildred May Van Brunt, age 93, was born in Mulberry, Arkansas on December 2, 1924 and departed this life on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at her home, surrounded by family. Mildred, the daughter of Sherman Lee and Peal Lee (Cox) Reed, was a resident of Prague. She married Gordon Van Brunt on August 28, 1942, in Mulberry. Mildred was a strong woman, skilled seamstress, and great baker and cook. She was known for her pies, kolaches and fried chicken, to name a few. Her greatest joy was her family and her strong faith. Mildred loved to laugh and was known to turn a conversation into an impromptu song. She would assign a nickname to those around her and it was understood that one just accepted the name given. Mildred invested a great deal of time babysitting her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a WM leader at the Assembly of God church and taught Sunday School. She enjoyed helping her husband, Gordon, with the lumber business and utilizing her amazing math skills. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Tommy Lee Van Brunt; brother, Robert Lee Reed; and grandson, Michael A. Van Brunt. Mildred's survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Jack and Frances Van Brunt of Prague and Ronnie and Charlotte Van Brunt of Prague; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Cliff Bryant of Prague; brother and sister-in-law, Rufus and Mary Alice Reed of Alma Arkansas; grandchildren, Lisa and Jeremy Swizek of Hemet, CA, Jeremy and Michelle Van Brunt of Prague, Chadd Bryant of Prague, Chase and Nicole Bryant of Midwest City, Rodney and Chazelle Harrison of Prague and Leslie Harrison of Prague; great grandchildre, Nick Swizek, Parker Swizek, Roman Swizek, Brittney Long, Anthony Long, Austin Van Brunt, Tye Van Brunt, Cole Van Brunt and Clay Van Brunt; niece Patty Bowels and many other family and friends. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at 2:00 PM, at Faith Bible Church in Prague with Pastor Scott Smith, Jeremy and Lisa Swizek officiating. Interment will follow at Prague Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.
